(Cricket News) Ashwin, in the context of the third T20I clash between India and Afghanistan, noted a whirlwind of emotions for both players and fans. During the super over, Rohit Sharma expressed dissatisfaction with Mohammad Nabi, who took an additional double after a throw from wicket-keeper Sanju Samson deflected off him. The Indian captain engaged in an animated discussion with the Afghan player, sparking a debate on the spirit of cricket regarding Nabi’s decision to take the extra run.

Ashwin shared his perspective on the matter on his YouTube channel, stating, “To get run out, I am running; that throw deflects off me, I am within my right to run. Spirit of cricket? Yet again, I’m sorry.” He offered a straightforward explanation, comparing the situation to other scenarios in the game where actions are taken to gain an advantage. Ashwin emphasized that such instances occur when players actively try to impact the game, be it a bowler aiming to take a wicket or a fielder making a throw.

Beyond this incident, controversy surrounded Rohit Sharma’s batting strategy in the super overs. In the first super over, Rohit initially accompanied Yashasvi Jaiswal but retired himself out before the last ball, allowing Rinku Singh to enter as a non-striker. The match eventually went into another super over, with Rohit returning to bat alongside Rinku Singh. According to the ICC Playing Conditions, any batsman dismissed in a previous super over is ineligible to bat in subsequent ones. However, it remains unclear whether Rohit retired out or retired hurt, as match officials have yet to clarify. If it was the latter, Rohit would have been eligible to bat again since he was not out in the first super over.
