Shaheen Storm in Jamaica helps Pakistan fight back to draw Test series 1-1

(Cricket news) Pakistan drew the series against West Indies thanks to Shaheen Afridi's 10-fer. Both the teams are currently joint second on the World Test Championship points table with 12 points each.

The first Test match at Sabina Park was one for the ages. West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and put Pakistan into bat. After restricting Pakistan to 217, the Windies scored 253 in reply. Babar Azam's 55 in the 2nd innings meant that Pakistan set a stiff target of 168. Pakistan attack led by Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali took the game right to the wire as West Indies won by a wicket in what was a thrilling match. Jayden Seales was awarded the man of the match for his 8 wickets.

In the 2nd Test Holder again elected to bowl after winning the toss. Pakistan got off to a disastrous start as they lost 3 wickets in 4 overs with just 2 runs on the board. Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales were cruising through but Babar Azam and Fawad Alam steadied things down. The pair put together 166 runs as Alam reached his 5th Test century. After various rain interruptions, Babar Azam declared the innings on 302 for 9. West Indies in reply could only manage 150 runs as Shaheen Afridi caused havoc. Pakistan came out to bat in the 2nd innings with a lead of 152.

With contributions from all top 5 batsmen, Pakistan declared at 176/6. Windies had to chase down 329 in the last innings or survive the day in order to win the series but Shaheen Afridi had other plans. The seamer picked up 4 wickets with the ball and caused one crucial run out as well. West Indies were bowled out for 219 runs and the series finished level at 1-1.

Pakistan host New Zealand in a white ball series and then play England for 2 T20Is to prepare for the World T20 later this year. West Indies on the other hand have no matches scheduled before the World T20.
