(Football news) Indian Super League club Odisha FC has started its Grassroots Tour from two villages, Gundichapada and Naranpur in Dhenkanal district in association with Youth for Sustainability (Yfs) to develop football in different parts of the state of Odisha.
On 23rd of July, Odisha FC provided Maa Sarala Club with football equipment and Coach Mir Aatif Ali demonstrated it’s use with a few drills. There was also an exhibition match played between Maa Sarala Club and Morning Club, Dhenkanal as well as five a side friendly matches in the morning and afternoon.
The next day (24th July), Odisha FC’s grassroots team visited Naranpur village and met the players and staff of the Popular Club. After drills and grassroots development activities in the morning, an exhibition match was played between Popular Club and Morning Club. There was also a plantation drive by the Youth for Sustainability at both the villages as part of the campaign.
Speaking about the initiative, Grassroots Manager Mr. Suvam Das expressed, "It was really amazing to see the turnout and interest among the youth and small kids here in Dhenkanal. A few of them have impressed us and we are looking to call them for our camps in the future. We are planning to cover as many as football hotspots in the State we can and in coming days, we will be visiting more districts as a part of this tour."
