(Boxing news) Olympic 2021 Live Update: In an extremely close contest between Mary Kom and Ingrit Valencia, it was the Colombian boxer who emerged the winner. In Round 1, Valencia came all guns blazing and put Mary Kom’s defense to the test with quick punches. Subsequently, Valencia was awarded four 10’s and a 9 at the end of the first round while Mary Kom got four 9’s and a 10.

In Round 2, six time World Champion Mary Kom showed her prowess with quick reflexes and timely dodges to win the round 3-2 against four time Olympic gold medallist Ingrit Valencia. However, it was evident that Valencia is considerably quicker than Mary Kom, being six years younger than the Indian boxer.

Mary Kom landed a right hand punch just as Round 3 began while Valencia remained in defense. Valencia appeared more confident of the two at the end of the round and rightly so, as the Colombian was awarded the fight by three of the five judges, knocking out Mary Kom in the Round of 16.
