Leeds United sign Daniel James from Manchester United

(Football news) Leeds United have signed Daniel James from Manchester United for 28 million pounds that sees him complete his move to the Yorkshire club after he was close to joining them in January 2019. Daniel James became Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing when he signed from Swansea for 15 million pounds, since then he has made 75 appearances scoring 9 goals in the process.

Daniel James although starting in two out of the three matches this season for Manchester United had to leave the club as United purchased both Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho which meant that he was surplus to the requirement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Welsh superstar is 23 years old and can restart his career at Leeds under the management of Marco Bielsa. In 2019 James was close to joining them on loan but the move ultimately failed on the last day which prompted Leeds to sign Raphinha from Rennes, this move gives Bielsa a lot of leeway to tinker with his formation as he can play both James and Raphinha on either wing.

The pace of James is going to be an asset for the ‘Whites’ as Leeds tend to press from the front where their front three do the majority of the pressing. The very fact that Leeds have broken their transfer record for James tells us how highly Marco Bielsa rates him. Now that Daniel James has left United, in all likelihood his shirt number 21 will be taken by Edison Cavani which in turn means that Ronaldo will take up the iconic number 7 for Manchester United.
