Kamalpreet finishes 6th in Women’s Discus as rain plays spoilsport

(Athletics news) Olympic 2021 Live Update: Women's Discus Throw Finals were held today as Kamalpreet Kaur finished 6th with her best throw of 63.70m in the Tokyo Olympics. Valarie Allman from USA won the gold with a  throw of 68.98m in her first attempt, Kristin Pudenz from Germany took the Silver medal with a throw of 66.86m in her 5th attempt and Yaime Perez from Cuba grabbed the Bronze medal with a throw of 65.72 on her first attempt. At first, only two throws were recorded as rain interrupted the event. After a while the event continued with the third throw and the top 8 were selected with three more throws. Sandra Perković from Croatia and the double defending Olympic champion finished 4th with a best throw of 65.01 in her third attempt.

Kamalpreet Kaur ended with throws of 61.72m and 63.70m as her second, fourth and sixth throw were fouls. It was an impressive show by the Indian as she came in as a shock contender when she was placed second overall from group A and B. She will certainly gain a lot from Tokyo and will look to come back stronger than ever.
