Indian men’s hockey team defeat Great Britain 3-1 to reach semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics

(Hockey news) Olympic 2021 Live Update: The Indian men’s hockey team made history after defeating Great Britain 3-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Olympic Games for the first time in 41 years. Dilpreet Singh opened the scoring for India in the 7th minute to give his side an early lead and Gurjant Singh doubled the scoring in the 16th minute with the score finishing 2-0 at the end of Q2 in the men’s hockey quarterfinal match.

However, Great Britain fought back and managed to salvage a goal at the end of the third quarter with Ward scoring through a penalty corner. Manpreet Singh got a yellow card with less than 7 minutes left and India was forced to play with one man less for the next five minutes. Hardik Singh managed to restore India’s two goal cushion with less than three minutes left to assure his side a semi-final clash against Belgium at the Tokyo Olympics.
