Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri looks unlikely to win medal at the Tokyo Olympics

(Golf news) Olympic 2021 Live Updates: A late birdie and an eagle at the end of Round 3 to card a three-under 68 salvaged Anirban Lahiri’s Tokyo Olympics campaign to some extent, but a medal win seems unlikely for the 34 year old.

Having returned earlier today to finish his second round, he got a bogey in one of the two remaining holes for a round 1-over 72, placing him T-24th. He eventually Tied-28th after the third round with a total of 6-under 207.

Meanwhile, Udayan Mane carded a 70 to finish in the 55th place on 2-over 215. The leader of the second round is  Xander Schauffele of the United States who has a 54-hole lead after shooting a 3-under 68 today to move to 14-under overall. Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama finished in second place, a stroke behind Schauffele and is now within touching distance of an Olympic medal.

Starting from 10th in the third round, Lahiri had a birdie and a bogey in the first 15 holes and then birdied the seventh and eagled the eighth for 3-under 68, leaving him six shots outside a possible podium finish at Kasumigaseki Country Club’s East course. He stands at 6-under 207 and is T-28th.
