Cristiano Ronaldo scores dramatic last minute winner to mark record breaking UCL appearance

(Football news) In 2015 Cristiano Ronaldo broke former teammate and fellow Real Madrid legend Raul's record to become the highest goalscorer in the history of the competition. Ronaldo broke the record of most UCL appearances in yesterday's match against Villarreal.

Cristiano Ronaldo on his 178th UCL appearance scored his 136th goal. His legacy in the UCL is unparalleled and is already written in golden letters. His clutch performances in important games for Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus have created some iconic moments.

Ronaldo marked his iconic achievement with an extremely crucial goal for Manchester United. Villarreal were leading 1-0 at Old Trafford before Alex Telles scored the equaliser. The points were set to be shared before Cristiano Ronaldo came out of nowhere to score the winner in 'Fergie time'. Manchester United would've been in a pickle if the goal hadn't gone as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men got back to winning ways after two consecutive defeats.

This season Cristiano Ronaldo will be eying to equal Paco Gento's record for the most UCL titles won. Manchester United have a tough run of fixtures coming up where they face Everton, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester City and Atalanta twice. Cristiano Ronaldo will have to be on the top of his game if the Red Devils are to come out on top after this period.
