Atanu Das, Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai fail to find their rhythm at the Men’s Individual Ranking Round

(Archery news) Olympics 2021 Live Updates: With the conclusion of all 72 arrows at the Men’s Individual Ranking Round, Pravin Jadhav finished 31st ahead of Atanu Das (35) and Tarundeep Rai (37) on the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics. It was an inconsistent performance by the Indian trio at Yumenoshima Park with the Indian archery contingent finishing ninth across Mixed teams with 1319 points and Men’s teams with 1961 points.

Pravin Jadhav, who is making his Olympics debut is likely to team up with World number 1 Deepika Kumari in the Mixed Event in Tokyo. 17 year old Korean prodigy Kim Je Deok reached an incredible 688 individual total out of a possible 720. The results for India mean that they could face tournament favourites South Korea in all three events in the quarter-finals.

At the end of the men’s team event, Republic of Korea finished 1st, Netherlands 2nd and China 3rd while India languished in the 9th position and faces an uphill task to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Pravin Jadhav is set to face Galsan Bazarzhapov of Russia, Atanu Das to meet Chinese Taipei’s Yu-Cheng Deng and Tarundeep Rai to clash against Oleksii Hunbin of Ukraine in the next round.
