According to La Reppublica, Arsenal is getting ready to offer Atalanta €55 million for central striker Mateo Retegui.
It was previously reported that Mikel Arteta was interested in signing Swedish players Viktor Djerkeš from Sporting or Alexander Isak from Newcastle, but both have stated that they would be reluctant to join Arsenal. As a result, the squad has turned its attention to Retegui, who is 25. The Italian forward is also a target for Aston Villa, although they are not yet prepared to make a firm bid.
Retegui joined the Bergamaschi in August 2024 after joining for €22 million from Genoa. He only played for Argentine clubs before that. Mateo has played in 31 games for his club and the Italian national team this season, tallying 16 goals and dishing out five assists.
