(Football news) Al Nassr continued their poor form as they were knocked out of the Saudi King Cup after a 1-0 loss to a 10-man Al-Wehda in the semifinals. It was Jean-David Beauguel who scored for Al-Wehda in the 23rd minute while Abdullah Al-Hafith was sent off early in the second half with a second yellow card. Al Nassr needed only one goal and being up a man for the last 40 minutes of the game you would expect Cristiano Ronaldo to find the back of the net but Al Nassr looked very lackluster in front of the goal.
The former Ballon D’or winner saw his only shot on the night in the first half saved comfortably by Al Wehda goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi. Ronaldo again looked very frustrated and apparently raised his voice toward the coaching staff when the teams went into the dressing room at the half time break.
Al Nassr were expected to easily get into the final and play Al Hilal who subsequently beat Al Ittihad 1-0 on Sunday. Al Nassr had beaten Al-Wehda 4-0 on Feb. 9 with Ronaldo scoring all four goals but this time around the Al Wehda defenders heavily marked him. With Al Nassr sitting in second place behind Al Ittihad in the table and losing already falling 4 points behind the leaders having one match more it looks like Al Nassr’s season is going to be trophyless after making such a positive start to the season.
The Portugal international signed on with Al Nassr in December after a falling out with Erik ten Hag but clearly Ronaldo is enduring a tough time at Saudi with him playing a major role in sacking Rudi Garcia. Ronaldo’s emotions this season have gotten the better of him on several occasions and recently he avoided a red card in their 2-0 loss to Al Hilal when he took down a player with a flying headlock.
