(Cricket) The Afghanistan Cricket Board has soften there stand on Mujeeb, Naveen and Farooqi. The ACB has modified the sanctions imposed allowing the three players to receive central contracts and participate in franchise leagues on the condition that they ensure “full commitment to national duties and ACB’s interests”.
The ACB delayed the announcements of their Central contracts after the three players disagreed to sign the contracts and also decided against No Objection Certificates of those players to halt their participation in the Franchise leagues.
The Afghan spinner Mujeeb missed the T20I series that Afghanistan played against the UAE in order to participate in the Big Bash league. Mujeeb’s stint at the BBL was cut short as ACB refused to give the NOC. Mujeeb after talks with board is finally back in the Afghan setup after being named in the squad for the T20I series against India.
The ACB stated that the players made an “unconditional approach” to the board, communicating their desire to play for the country again. A “comprehensive investigation” was carried out by a an assigned committee who came up with recommendations including a written final warning and deduction in salary from the player’s monthly earnings and/or match fees, limited NOCs with national duty being the priority and awarding central contracts while strictly monitoring their performance and discipline in events.
