A late goal from Garnacho helps Manchester United beat West Ham and qualify for the quarterfinals

Man United fight back from one goal down to win and keep their dreams alive for a quadruple
Garnacho scores a late winner

(Football news) Manchester United continued their hunt for the quadruple as they fought back from 1-0 down to win 3-1 against West Ham and reach the FA Cup quarter finals whereas Premier League teams Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton suffered shock defeats on Wednesday. Just three days after winning the League Cup, Manchester United trailed to a brilliant Said Benrahma’s goal in the 54th minute but an own goal by Moroccan centre back Nayef Aguerd and late strikes from Alejandro Garnacho and Fred sent Manchester United into the last eight.

West Ham have won only once at Old Trafford in their last 22 visits as the visitors took advantage of sloppy defending to open the scoring. Tomas Soucek somehow managed to keep the ball in play on the left touchline and Manchester United players appealed for a throw-in but Soucek played the ball to Benrahma who scored from a curling shot past David De Gea into the top corner. Manchester United thought they had equalised when Bruno Fernandes found Casemiro with a pin-point free kick, but his goal was disallowed for offside.

Burno Fernandes was again involved in the equaliser as his dangerous corner prompted Aguerd to head the ball into his own net. The game was looking set for extra time until the Argentine starboy took matters in his own as Garnacho controlled the ball inside the penalty area before curling a beautiful shot past keeper Alphonse Areola. Weghorst’s resilience paid off when he pressurised Aguerd to make a mistake as he then set up the Brazilian Fred to add a third goal as the 12-times FA Cup winners advanced to a sixth-round home tie against Fulham.

Manchester manager Erik Ten Hag was delighted with his players.”The resilience from this team and the belief they’re going to win it was magnificent,” the Dutchman told ITV.

“I had a strong feeling that we still could win the game, you saw the belief, there was composure, there was never a moment of panic,” Ten Hag said.
