(Football news) Matchday 13 of the Premier League started with a massive upset as Liverpool lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute. Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson pulled off 7 saves and kept a clean sheet. After a turbulent start to the season it looked like Liverpool had gotten back on track with a 7-1 away win against Rangers followed by  a 1-0 win against Manchester City and West Ham. The defeat well and truly means that Liverpool will need a miracle to mount any sort of title challenge this season. A top 4 finish also looks like a rare possibility at this moment. Forrest really needed that win after going winless for 8 games. They are still rock bottom of the Premier League table but Leeds and Wolves are just ahead on goal difference while West Ham and Leicester City are just 2 points ahead. 

Manchester City won 3-1 against Brighton at home. Erling Haaland continued his ridiculous goal scoring form by getting two first half goals. The opening goal was classic route 1 football while the 2nd one came from the penalty spot after a controversial foul on Bernardo Silva. Haaland now has 22 goals in 14 games for Manchester City. Brighton did manage to pull a goal back thanks to a wonderful strike by Leandro Trossard. The goal was Trossard's 6th of the campaign which takes him to joint 5th on the League's goalscoring chart. Kevin De Bruyne scored in the 75th minute to secure the victory for City. Arsenal's draw against Southampton meant that City are now just 2 points off the top.

Manchester United and Chelsea drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge. The match was dominated by United who just couldn't get the goal. Chelsea out of nowhere won a penalty after Scott McTominay fouled Armando Broja during a corner. Jorginho calmly slotted the spot kick past David De Gea to break the deadlock in the 87th minute. United were working really hard for an equalizer and finally got it in the 94th minute as Casemiro scored his first goal for the club after heading Luke Shaw's cross into the back of the net despite the best efforts of Kepa Arrizabalaga.  

Arsenal drew 1-1 at the St. Mary's stadium against Southampton. The Gunners had been finding a way to win in the last 8 matches but this time around they couldn't break the Saints' resilience. Granit Xhaka scored his 4th goal of the season in the 11th minute to give Arsenal the lead. In the 65th minute Southampton managed to equalize via Stuart Armstrong. This was only the 2nd time Arsenal dropped points this season with the other one being the loss against Manchester United. They are still top of the table but City are now just 2 points behind. Tottenham Hotspur on the other hand lost 2-1 at home against Newcastle. Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson scored in the first half to give Newcastle a 2 goal advantage which proved to be too much for Tottenham to overcome. Harry Kane did pull a goal back but it ended up being just a consolidation. Newcastle have now overtaken Spurs and made their way to 3rd on the table.
