(Football news) Dani Alves has officially signed a 1 year deal with Mexican club Pumas. The Brazilian spent the first half of last season as a free agent before signing a 6 month deal with Barcelona. Despite the player wanting to stay at the club, Barcelona didn't renew Alves' contract and now at the age of 39, Alves has started a new chapter in his career. He is still a regular member of Tite's Brazilian team and is likely to play at the World Cup. The fullback will be looking to keep himself fit for the mega event in Qatar. 

Alves on a personal level had a decent last season with Barcelona. He got 1 goal and 3 assists in 14 La Liga appearances as Barcelona finished 2nd on the table. Barcelona's decision to let go of Alves was understandable as they wanted to move forward. Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to be his replacement who isn't that young but is still a part of the rebuild. Alves criticised the club saying "The only thing I didn't like was how my departure was handled. This club has sinned in recent years. Barcelona doesn't care about the people who made history for the club. As a Barca fan, I would like Barcelona to do things differently." The Brazilian's last departure wasn't too happy either as he was forced out of the club.

Despite his age Alves is still capable of being a great asset to any side. He might not have the legs to run around all game long once every week but he is still clever and has that natural quality on the ball. Alves will be extra motivated to do well with his new club so that he doesn't lose his spot in the Brazilian team for the World Cup and goes to Qatar in good shape and good form.
