Liverpool, Arsenal and City look to secure wins in the Premier League

(Football news) Liverpool’s pursuit of a quadruple continues as they welcome Tottenham at Anfield in the Premier League. Having already won the Carabao Cup, the Reds are also in the Champions League and FA Cup finals and will need to win this fixture to keep hopes of a Premier League title alive as they trail Manchester City by one point. As things stand, every game is a must-win for Jurgen Klopp’s team but they have the quality to get the desired result in every remaining fixture.

In team news, Roberto Firmino is the only doubt for Liverpool while one of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane could be rested after playing 90 minutes in the Champions League fixture. Jordan Henderson could feature in midfield and Joel Matip is expected to replace Ibrahima Konate in defence. As for Tottenham, they too have no fresh injury concerns but Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp are unavailable for selection. Any result except for three points for Liverpool will be considered an upset in this fixture.

Two sides at the opposite ends of the Premier League table will face each other as Arsenal welcome Leeds United to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. In their last fixtures, the Gunners won 2-1 against West Ham while Jesse Marsch’s team lost 4-0 to Manchester City. Mikel Arteta has recently signed a new contract with Arsenal until 2025 and a victory will be necessary for the club’s Champions League ambitions for next season.

In team news, Arsenal’s Ben White is doubtful due to a hamstring injury which means Rob Holding is expected to feature in the starting XI while Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey are long term absentees. Eddie Nketiah is expected to feature ahead of Alexandre Lacazette while Gabriel Martinelli could be picked over Emile Smith Rowe. For Leeds, Stuart Dallas is unavailable due to the femoral fracture alongside Adam Forshaw, Crysencio Summerville and Tyler Roberts. Marsch is expected to keep Patrick Bamford on the bench but Liam Cooper is available for the fixture. Our prediction is a comfortable victory for Arsenal to consolidate their fourth place in the league.

After their heartbreaking defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League, Manchester City will be in a mood for vengeance when they welcome Newcastle United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The last time these two sides met, City defeated the Magpies 4-0 at St. James’ Park. A victory is of utmost importance for City as Liverpool are breathing down their necks and retaining their Premier League title will be the biggest priority for Pep Guardiola at the moment.

In team news, City’s Kyle Walker and John Stones are doubtful due to ankle and muscle injuries respectively with Joao Cancelo expected to play right-back in Walker’s absence while one of Nathan Ake or Oleksandr Zinchenko will play on the left. Kevin de Bruyne is expected to feature in the starting XI alongside Rodri and Bernardo Silva while Fernandinho and Ilkay Gundogan are also in contention. Phil Foden is expected to keep his place in the lineup while Raheem Sterling and Grealish will hope to displace Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus.

As for Newcastle, Ryan Fraser, Isaac Hayden, Jamal Lewis and Fabian Schar are unavailable for selection and Jamaal Lascelles is expected to feature in the starting lineup alongside Dan Burn. Kieran Trippier could be back in the squad after being pictured training and seems to have recovered from a fractured foot while Callum Wilson has also recovered from injury after four months. Jonjo Shelvey, Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock could retain their places in midfield at the Etihad Stadium while Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron could feature on the wings. Our prediction is a comfortable win for Manchester City as they consolidate their lead at the top of the table.
