Delhi Capitals bounce back to defeat lackluster Punjab Kings

(Cricket news) After a disappointing loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals comfortably defeated Punjab Kings by 9 wickets. The DC camp was affected by Covid after Mitchell Marsh was tested positive. Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bat first as DC called back Sarfaraz Khan for Marsh. Punjab Kings on the other hand welcomed back their skipper Mayank Agarwal along with Nathan Ellis as Prabhsimran Singh and Odean Smith made way.

Punjab Kings had a disastrous first innings as they were bowled out for just 115 runs. Mayank Agarwal's 24 and Jitesh Sharma's 32 were the only two PBKS batters who got any sort of starts. Rahul Chahar and Arshdeep Singh added a few runs towards the end to take their side over the hundred run mark. Khaleel Ahmed, Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel all picked up two wickets each while Mustafizur Rahman also got a scalp. PBKS batters looked absolutely clueless in the middle which is very worrying for them. Despite having to stop practice because of a Covid outbreak, DC bowled really well throughout the innings. Their bowling attack is definitely shaping into a deadly one.

With a mere target of 116, DC wasted no time as they chased it down in just 10.3 overs. Prithvi Shaw got off to a flying start with his 41 off 20 balls. He hit 7 fours and a six before being dismissed by Rahul Chahar. David Warner hit 10 boundaries and a maximum as he scored 60 off just 30 balls. PBKS just didn't have enough runs on board and the bowling wasn't attacking enough with such a small target. There will be a lot of thinking in the Punjab camp where Jonny Bairstow's place in the side will definitely be questioned among others.
