NBA: Lakers come from behind to beat the Jazz and the Warriors lose

(Basketball news) The Los Angeles Lakers came from behind to beat the Utah Jazz 106-101. For the Lakers, James scored 15 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter, as Davis had 17 points in 17 minutes when he was injured. He was down on the court for several minutes before being helped off, Russell Westbrook had 17 points and seven rebounds while Malik Monk added 13 points. For the Jazz, Donovan Mitchell led them with 37 points, including five 3-pointers, Bojan Bogdanovic scored 15 points and Jordan Clarkson had 13 off the bench. With this result the Lakers still remained 9th in the Western Conference standings but improved their record to 27-31.

''I just tried to take the inspiration of what he was able to accomplish over the past couple days,'' said James of Donald. ''He's the greatest defensive player I have ever seen play the sport. For him to take time out of his day and watch us play after the parade was amazing.''

''What we saw LeBron do, it's just remarkable,'' coach Frank Vogel said. ''What he continues to do at this point of his career, to take over a game in the fourth quarter the way that he did with his energy, will and determination, it was really something special.''

''Obviously, it took the sails out of us for quite a while when AD went out, especially with the game he was having up until that point,'' James said. ''It took us a minute to kind of recalibrate and get us some bounce back after that, but we closed the third quarter out in good fashion and was able to turn around in the fourth.''

“The game tightens up and go to LeBron, and he makes plays,'' Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. ''But we had plenty of chances to make plays too. We just didn't, but we put ourselves in that position. It can't be that easy to give up a 13-point lead. We got to make teams work to come back, and grind. It was too easy.''

The Warriors suffered their second loss in succession as they lost to the Denver Nuggets 117-116. For the Nuggets, Jokic had 35 points and 17 rebounds – 11 and 8 after the first quarter as Bryn Forbes scored 22 points and Morris finished with 13 points and six assists. For the Warriors, Klay Thompson scored 16 points and Jordan Poole added 15 off the bench as Steph Curry top scored with 25 points. With this result the Nuggets improved their record to 33-25 as they currently 6th in the Western Conference table.

''Monte made a clutch bucket,'' Curry said. ''The last thing you can do in that situation is give up a 3.''

''I told the guys if we continue to play with that kind of fight and connection then we're going to be in good shape after the break,'' Kerr said.

''I just wanted to go in the middle of the paint and shoot a hook shot,'' he said. ''I just saw Steph and he was helping a little bit and Monte was wide open so I just passed the ball.''

“He's the reigning MVP. He was down there scoring at will in the fourth quarter at the rim,'' Kerr said. ''… Our defense was much, much better, Jokic just took over the game.''
