(Football news) Napoli’s 100% start to the season ended as they dropped their first points against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, AC Milan won a dramatic match as they continued their fine start to the season by going level on points with Napoli. Juventus were heading for their first defeat in over 7 matches in all competitions as they scored a late equaliser to maintain their current unbeaten run.
Juventus scored a dramatic equaliser right in the end to draw 1-1 against Inter Milan, in the first half Edin Dezko scored in the 17th minute when he rolled the ball into the empty net after Hakan Calhanoglu’s rocket of a shot rebounded to him off the crossbar as Inter dominated the proceedings in the first half. In the second half the story of the match was similar as Juventus were very underwhelming but in the dying moments Paulo Dybala slotted in his spot kick after Denzel Dumfries was ruled to kick Alex Sandro in the box when he tried to clear the ball, as a result of his protest, Inter coach Inzaghi received a straight red card. After this result Inter still stayed third with 18 points but are already 7 points of the top two, as for Juventus they stayed sixth with 15 points level on points with Atalanta and just a point behind 4th place Roma.
A disappointed Inzaghi said, “That was the only way we were going to concede a goal… we ran the game from start to finish, we gave them nothing, I’m not happy because the referee is two metres away, says everything is fine and then is called (by VAR)… we deserved more."
Dybala after the match said, “We were up against a very good team and given the way the game was going, we’re happy with the point,"
Napoli dropped their first point of the season as they drew 0-0 against AS Roma as Napoli's winning streak ended at eight games. Both the teams in the first half were skeptical in the first half as not too many chances were created but in the second half both the sides would be ruing the missed chances which could have decided the match. Jose Mourinho was sent off to the stands for dissent with nine minutes left and Luciano Spalleti was also sent off after the final whistle for sarcastically applauding the referee. Although Mourinho will not be happy with the draw he will breathe a sigh of relief after losing 6-1 to Bode/Glimt midweek. With this result Napoli are still on top but merely on goal difference with 25 points and Roma are fourth with 16 points.
Kalidou Koulibaly after the match said, “It’s a good point, we came here knowing Roma wanted to react after Thursday’s defeat and had their fans behind them,"
AC Milan won against 9 men Bologna 4-2 to go level on points at the top of the table, in the first half Stefan Poli’s side were at their dominant best as Rafeal Leao fired them into the lead after his shot got deflected into the net, four minutes later Adama Soumaoro was sent off for bringing Rade Krunic as Milan took full advantage and scored a second through a brilliant strike by captain Davide Calabria. Zlatan, starting his first match of the season scored his first own goal in his career to give 10 men Bologna some hope before half time. In the second half Musa Barrow stunned the away team as he equalised with a very good finish, but at the hour mark Soriano received a red card to make Bologna’s tougher. Bologna did their best to protect the 2-2 but Bennacer and Zlatan at the end ensured that Milan got three points. With this result they have 25 points from 9 matches.
