PSG won a 5-goal thriller against RB Leipzig at home. After just 9 minutes, Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring with a thunderous right footed strike. In the 28th minute Andre Silva equalised for Leipzig after being set up by Angelino. Nordi Mukiele gave his side the lead 12 minutes into the second half. Mbappe continued to cause Leipzig problems as he set up Lionel Messi's equaliser and also won a penalty which the Argentine converted. Mbappe later had an opportunity in injury time to put the game to bed but he blasted his spot kick over the bar.
Liverpool won a UCL classic at the Wanda Metropolitano against Atlético Madrid. The Reds scored twice via James Milner and Naby Keita before 13 minutes. Atletico Madrid then took control of the game and started to attack more. Antoine Griezmann scored twice in 14 minutes to make it 2-2. The Frenchman's joy was halted in the 52nd minute when the referee showed him a straight red card for a high boot. Atletico Madrid came very close to going in front a few times, forcing Allison to make a couple of very good saves. Mario Hermoso gave away a clumsy penalty which Salah converted to put Liverpool back in front. Atletico were given a penalty in the dying minutes of the game but VAR overturned the decision and the game ended 3-2.
