(Football news) The biggest upset yesterday came from Sweden as they beat Spain 2-1 in a match which changed the group dynamics a lot. The match started with Spain on the front foot which resulted in debutant Carlos Soler scoring inside 4 minutes but Sweden right from the kick off equalised through a brilliant goal from Alexander Isak. The story of the second half was completely different as Sweden asserted their dominance over the former world champions, this constant pressure finally paid dividence as Dejan Kulusevski did brilliantly on the wings to provide Victor Claesson a wonderful assist to take the lead at the 57th minute mark. This result means that Sweden have won all three matches in group B and sit two points ahead of Spain who have played a match more.

England beat Hungary 4-0 to make it four wins out of four, Gareth Southgate’s side looked very sluggish in the first half but in the second half they came out all guns blazing with Raheem Sterling opening the scoring from a Mason Mount cross. Raheem Sterling took off his shirt and paid tribute to his long time friend and twitch streamer Steffie Gregg, this wasn’t appreciated by the Hungary fans as they started throwing cups at the England players. Motivated by all the abuse the England players were getting, they went to score three goals from Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and Declan Rice to win the match comfortably in the end. England lead Group I with 12 points followed by Poland and Hungary who are on 7 points in second position.

Belgium beat Estonia 5-2, the world number 1 side were shocked when Estonia took the lead through Mattias Kait in the 2nd minute but Belgium showed why they are ranked number one as they quickly equalised through Hans Vanaken in the 22nd minute. With a brillant brace from Romelu Lukaku and goals from Axel Witsel & Thomas Foket ensured a rampant victory over the Estoninas. With this result Belgium are in a good place to qualify group E as they have 10 points from four matches.

Italy were held to a surprising 1-1 draw to Bulgaria, Roberto Mancini’s side lacked the cutting edge instincts as their performance was very lackluster. They started off on the front foot and took the lead courtesy of a wonderful goal from Federico Chesia in the 16th minute but were quickly pegged back by the Bulgarians as Atanas IIiev equalised for them. This draw also means that Italy haven’t been beaten in 35 matches, a run which started off in 2018 it also equals Brazil and Spain’s unbeaten runs. The draw means that Italy are on top of Group C with 10 points but have played two less matches than Switzerland who are in second place with 6 points from two matches.

Germany beat Liechtenstein 2-0 in what was a comfortable night for the Die Mannschaft. This was Hansi Flick’s first game in charge as he gave Ridle Baku and Jamal Musiala their first starts for Germany. The Germans took the lead in the 41st minute through Timo Werner and doubled the lead in the 77th minute through Leroy Sane to round off an easy victory for them. This result puts Germany second in group J as the loss against North Macedonia in the third match week meant that they have 9 points from four matches, Armenia sit on top of the group with 10 points.
