The English 100 ball tournament – The Hundred is all set to add to our sporting excitement this year, after being postponed in summer 2020 due to Covid 19. As per a press release by the English Cricket Board, many English and International stars have signed up for ‘The Hundred’. Several names have been put in black and white to play in the tournament this year, with over 100 players now confirmed for the fresh and thriller packed 100 ball competition. Welsh Fire have confirmed the signing of 8 players including England’s international players like Johnny Bairstow, Tom Banton and Ben Duckett. They are joined by women’s titans like Alex Griffiths, Georgia Hennessy, Lauren Filer, Sophie Luff and Natasha Wraith. Trent Bridge team the Trent Rockets have confirmed Dawid Malan’s retention. Matthew Carter , Tom Moores and Steven Mullaney are the other players that have been signed. Women’s stars like Kathryn Bryce and Abbey Freeborn have also been retained. Manchester Originals confirmed South African Lizelle Lee and Mignon du Preez along with exciting players like Phil Salt and Joe Clarke. Jason Roy will continue to play with Oval Invincibiles, joined by foreign players like South African seamer Marizanne Kapp and West Indies spinner Sunil Narine. London Spirit have signed Mohammad Amir and All rounders like Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and South Africa’s Chole Tryon . Kirstie Gordon and young Scot leg spinner Abtaha Maqsood have been retained by Birmingham Phoenix alongwith Tom Helm and Benny Howell . Southern Brave will welcome seamers like Lauren Bell and Sonia Odedra, leg spinner Max Weller and Keeper Alex Davies. Lastly, Northern Superchargers have retained Helen Fenby, Bess Heath, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Adam Lyth. The remaining retained men’s players will be announced on February 4th while the women’s squads will continue to be revealed in the coming months. The Hundred will take place this year and feature eight city based franchises from Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Southampton and two in London.
