Deco & Flick’s First Title; Laporta’s 16th

The current president, in his second tenure as head coach of the Catalan club, adds his fourth title after winning the Supercopa de España in Saudi Arabia.

With a decisive 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España this past Sunday in Jeddah, FC Barcelona won their first championship. In addition to Hansi Flick’s first trophy as a Blaugrana, Deco, who won his first trophy as Sporting Director a year and a half after beginning this new professional chapter at the club, and 13 players (Szczesny, Astralaga, Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, Héctor Fort, Sergi Domínguez, Gerard Martín, Casadó, Fermín, Olmo, the injured Bernal, Pau Víctor, and Toni Fernández) also celebrated their first titles. In his playing career, the Portuguese has won five titles: two La Ligas (2004-05 and 2005-06), one Champions League (2005-06), and two Supercopas de espana.

Laporta wins his fourth championship in his second stint.

In the meanwhile, Joan Laporta won the Copa del Rey just one month after taking office in 2021, followed by the Supercopa and La Liga in 2023, and this most recent Supercopa last Sunday, marking his fourth championship in his second tenure as Barça’s president.
