As one of Barcelona’s finest players this season, Raphinha has shown why he is more deserving of the captain’s armband than any other player in the locker room.
It’s odd to consider that his sale was a serious topic of conversation last summer while the player is in the prime of his career and amassing goals and assists for enjoyment in every competition.
Barcelona values the Brazilian’s commitment given his performance, but if a high offer is made, a departure next summer is not completely out of the question. However, it goes without saying that the Blaugrana have set a cutoff point beyond which they will not entertain any proposals.
According to a recent update from Fichajes, Chelsea tried to arrange a deal for the Brazilian winger and offered Barcelona €60 million. They also made a variable offer of €25 million.
But because they believe the player is worth at least €100 million, the Catalans refused to even entertain the offer.
They turned down the offer because they understand how important the player is becoming under Hansi Flick. The club has made it clear that they will only entertain a sale if an offer exceeding €100 million is made.
It is disrespectful that the player is even being connected to leaving the team given his performance this season, and Barcelona will most likely choose to not to sell him.
However, it’s obvious that his future will be a hot topic come summertime, as it might turn out to be a battle between Barcelona’s financial predicament, Raphinha’s devotion to the team, and offers from all around Europe.
After all, nothing can be ruled out, and Chelsea’s total bid of €85 million is not far from Barcelona’s asking price.
The 27-year-old averages an incredible 3.2 vital passes per game and has already contributed six assists and 11 goals for Barcelona in La Liga this season.
