The Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli has once again been linked to Barcelona, as SPORT reports indicate that the Serie A team is willing to part with its valuable asset.
Since Napoli and Kvaratskhelia’s team have been unable to agree on a new deal, his future remains unknown.
According to reports, Napoli is considering placing him on the market if an agreement cannot be made, despite the fact that his current contract expires in 2027.
There has been tension between the club and the players’ representatives. Kvaratskhelia presently receives one of the lowest incomes in the team, a meager €1.2 million every season.
In order to make up for what they believe to be lost income, his entourage has called for a large wage increase and even retroactive adjustments.
However, Napoli’s offering includes a costly €130 million release clause, which the player’s side deems unacceptable, and they are only willing to provide €5 million per year.
Barcelona, a team that had previously expressed interest in the winger, has apparently received a message from Kvaratskhelia’s representatives.
This latest move attempts to determine the Blaugrana’s readiness to pursue the deal after talks had halted the previous year. Barcelona hasn’t taken any formal action yet, though.
Because of their president Aurelio de Laurentiis’s reputation for taking a strict and erratic stance on transfers, the Catalan team is still hesitant to engage in talks with Napoli.
Given that Napoli is probably going to demand €80 million or more for the winger, Barça is unwilling to pay exorbitant prices.
Barcelona appreciates Kvaratskhelia’s potential fit for their project, but they don’t plan to overpay for his services or enter into a bidding war.
Barcelona is currently awaiting the outcome of the matter. The club anticipates that Kvaratskhelia would advocate for the transfer and show his dedication to closing the transaction if he truly wants to move.
PSG and other suitors are still in the running, but Barcelona’s strategy will rely on how proactive the player is.
