Barcelona Midfielder Awaits Approval for Training

Hansi Flick has a lot to look forward to in Catalonia as midfield players are gradually making their way back from injuries, bolstering the team’s depth ahead of a crucial stretch of games.

Fermin Lopez’s medical clearance to resume group training was revealed by Barcelona yesterday, virtually guaranteeing that the La Masia standout will be included in the team that plays Sevilla.

However, Dani Olmo continued to train apart from the group as of Tuesday’s workout, and SPORT gave an update on his circumstances.

According to the Spanish publication, Olmo has nearly fully recovered from his Biceps femoris injury from last month and is very close to rejoining the team.

The team takes a break on Wednesday, and it is hoped that he will be back to the group dynamics by Thursday, when the internationals return for the first training session.

Olmo has a lengthy history of injuries, therefore the medical team and management want to be particularly cautious about his condition. As a result, they might wait to give the all-clear until he is 100%.

In addition to his creative capabilities, Olmo is a threat in front of goal. He can finish with both feet and has a knack for scoring from distance, adding another layer to his offensive game. His ability to contribute to goal-scoring situations, whether through assists or goals, makes him a dual threat that defenders must account for.

Defensively, Olmo showcases a strong work ethic, often engaging in high pressing and contributing to his team’s defensive efforts. This commitment aligns well with Barcelona’s tactical philosophy, which emphasizes ball recovery and aggressive play.

Olmo is still expected to play against Sevilla in some capacity in order to be ready for the matches against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich the following week. Though cautiously measured, there is confidence.

Olmo has made three appearances for Barcelona this season, starting two of them, and scoring three goals total—one in each game. He also produced two excellent opportunities and averaged 1.3 crucial passes per contest.

His comeback will boost the squad’s energy in the closing third and enable Hansi Flick’s team to reclaim the front four positions that they dominated much of the time against Real Valladolid.
