Barcelona just has thirty days to find Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s replacement right now.

Due to La Liga regulations, Barcelona has a 30-day window to find a replacement for their injured goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to a report by Ramon Fuentes in Mundo Deportivo. This puts the club in a difficult situation.

As stated by La Liga in its most recent announcement about Squad Cost Limits, Barcelona has gone over the budgetary restrictions imposed by the league, which is why this scenario has arisen.

Thankfully, Barcelona may once more make use of the long-term injury option, enabling them to sign a replacement for Ter Stegen. Article 77 of the budget preparation regulations describes this.

It should be mentioned that the team has already used this clause, both last season with Gavi and this season with players like Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen. It’s also important to remember that there is a deadline associated with this option.

And if they choose not to sign?

Barcelona will have to wait until the winter transfer window to make any acquisitions if they are unable to locate a substitute by this deadline. They could try to sign a goalkeeper from another team at that time, but the problem still stands because the club has more members than it can handle at this point.

In order to register any new additions during the January window, Barcelona must solve its financial position. Dani Olmo, for example, is only registered until December 31.

In the event that they miss the chance to register someone today, the same limitations would apply to any goalie they hoped to recruit.
