India’s ace pacer Mohammad Siraj has been released from the Team B squad for the upcoming Duleep trophy. Umran Malik has also been released from the Team C squad. Both the pacers were expected to feature in round 1 of the competition, however, an illness as reported has ruled them out of the competition. They both aren’t expected to be fit in time for the start of the competition, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated in a release on Tuesday (August 27).

In Team B, Navdeep Saini will take Siraj’s spot, and in Team C, Malik’s successor is Gaurav Yadav. Nitish Reddy, a member of Team B as well, may or may not participate depending on his level of fitness. Nitish was substituted due to a sports hernia earlier after being named in the India team for the Zimbabwe series.

Meanwhile, India’s star and world test no.1 all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been released from his squad of the domestic tournament. The reason for the same has not been disclosed by the BCCI.

Several key players of India’s red-ball side will feature in the domestic tournament starting on the 5th of September. The decision of key player’s participation was taken in order to give the players some red-ball game time ahead of the big test season. Team A will take on Team B at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru while Team C will face Team D from the 5th of September at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. Shubman Gill (Team A), Abhimanyu Easwaran (Team B), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Team C), and Shreyas Iyer (Team D) are the four captains.
