Manchester United are ok for letting Casemiro leave for Saudi Pro League

It's rumored that Manchester United is still willing to let Casemiro go this summer
Manchester

(Football news) After moving to Old Trafford from Real Madrid in 2022, Casemiro made a good impression in his first season there. He played in 53 competitive games and helped the team win the EFL Cup and finished third. Throughout the 2023–24 season, the Brazilian was a constant in Erik ten Hag’s squad, contributing three assists and five goals in 32 games across all competitions.

But after receiving harsh criticism for his performances the previous season, many questioned if he was still capable of playing at the best level. Because of this, there has been conjecture that Manchester United may want to unload Casemiro this summer, even though his contract is set to expire in June 2026 with an option to extend for an additional year.

Casemiro still faces uncertain future

A recent report claimed that there had been no serious proposals for Casemiro, raising the prospect that he could remain at Old Trafford for next season. There is still a ‘concrete possibility’ that Casemiro will leave the Red Devils this summer.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are currently in contact with the player’s representatives as they continue to discuss terms of a potential deal.

For Manchester United’s part, they are open to sanctioning a summer departure to create room in the squad for a new midfielder.

Who could replace Casemiro?

If Casemiro were to leave this summer, new Man United sporting director Dan Ashworth would be charged with finding his replacement.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of midfielders, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte believed to be one of their top targets.

Ugarte, a Uruguay international, appears to be heading towards the exit door despite only joining PSG from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, Benfica’s Joao Neves and Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand have all been mooted as possible midfield targets.
