Wanindu Hasaranga out of IPL 2024 with an injury concern

(Cricket news) The Sri Lankan spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga will not be a part of the IPL 2024. Hasaranga was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the auction last year, but the Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) has now pulled him out of the league in order to manage his injury.

Hasaranga has issues with his left ankle and will undergo rest and rehabilitation ahead of the T20 World Cup, later in June this year. According to reports, the SLC has written to the BCCI about the unavailability of the spinner for the entire season. He is believed to have consulted an expert in Dubai, who has advised him a precautionary rest.

Hasaranga was a part of RCB for the previous few seasons but was released ahead of the Auction in December last year. SRH picked him up for his base price, but will now be without his services for this season.

Hasaranga’s withdrawal has again raised questions about foreign players pulling out of the league, post the auctions. It has now become a trend in the IPL for several players, who does not show up eventually after being picked up by a side. Players pulling out, forces the teams to completely alter their strategies and put them in a bad spot.

According to reports SRH are looking for a potential replacement for the leg-spinner. Hyderabad has won 2 out of their first 4 games and are sitting on the 5th position on the table after the first quarter of the tournament.
