(Cricket News) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all to set to organize a multi-day tournament for women. The competition will take place soon after the conclusion of the WPL. It will take place in Pune from the 29th of March.
The multi-format tournament will consist of 6 teams – representing six zones – East, West, North, South, Central, and North-East. It will kick off with two Quarter Finals on the 29th of march followed by the semis and the Finals from the 9th of April. Two teams would be directly seeded to the Semi-finals.
The initiative is a very significant step towards encouraging the girls to take up domestic cricket seriously. It would give a great platform to the all the women cricketers of India to showcase their skills in the longest format.
The India women team has played some red-ball cricket recently and has performed very well. Promoting the longest format with these kind of tournaments would further strengthen the Indian side, which could prove vital in the long-run
