(Cricket News) The visitors Australia are on top, at the end of the second days play against New Zealand in Wellington. Starting the day at 279/9, Cameron Green showed his class adding 116 runs runs along with Hazlewood for the last wicket, taking Australia to 383 in the first innings.
Cameron Green remained unbeaten on 174 runs which is also his highest test score. He was well accompanied by Hazlewood who played a gritty knock of 22 to take the Aussies close to 400. Matt Henry picked up a 5-fer to end the innings.
It was then the Australian pace attack that delivered in style. They rattled the top order of New Zealand reducing them to 12 for 3. Daryl Mitchell and Will young were further dismissed in consecutive balls to worsen the situation for the hosts, making them stagger at 29/5.
Tom Blundell then along with Philllips joined together and built a 84-run stand, but it was never gonna be enough after the early damage. Lyon cleaned up the tail and New Zealand were eventually bundled out for 179 runs, allowing the visitors with a massive lead of 204 runs.
However the end to the day was not that good for the Aussies. They suffered a double blow in the 8 overs for which they batted, helping New Zealand with an outside chance to make a comeback into the game.
