(Football news) Al-Alami has a 1-0 lead going into this pivotal match on Wednesday thanks to a goal in the last ten minutes of play. Al Fayha is trying to make it to the tournament’s quarterfinals for the first time.

After 81 minutes, they managed to overcome the resolute Al Fayha defensive line, and the Riyadh club triumphed for the first time in the competition since their victory over Al-Duhail on matchday four of the group stage.

They would advance to the Champions League final eight for the fourth time in their previous four trips if they won or drew on Wednesday.

Since being knocked out at this stage of the 2010-11 Champions League (4-1 versus Zob Ahan), Al-Nassr have never been eliminated in this phase of the competition while failing to lose a match during this portion of the tournament.

They have only featured in two second-leg fixtures at this competition, losing their last one in September 2019, 3-1 versus Al-Sadd SC, after winning the first match of that quarter-final tie 2-1.

Luis Castro’s men have suffered just one defeat at home in all competitions this season (2-0 against Al-Taawoun in the Saudi Pro League last August), winning three of their four Champions League affairs at home over this campaign, with that other result being a 0-0 draw versus Persepolis.

Al Nassr have not lost a match at this tournament by multiple goals since that aforementioned quarter-final defeat to Al-Sadd in 2019, though two of their three Saudi Pro League defeats this season have been by two or more goals.

Al Fayha held off Al-Nassr for more than 80 minutes in the first leg, but when their two-match Champions League winning streak came to an end, bearing down under such pressure became too much.

Despite their lack of a single effort on goal the previous week, Vuk Rasovic can take heart from their better performance away from home, having defeated Al-Hazm 3-1 as guests in the Saudi Premier League this past weekend and winning 3-1 at Nizhny Novgorod in a friendly earlier this month.
