(Cricket news) Northern Districts have put one of their 10 highest one-day team totals on the board at Eden Park’s Kennards Hire Community Oval this afternoon in the top-of-the-table Ford Trophy clash with the Auckland Aces.
ND piled on 319/6 in their 50 overs – the 10th highest team total in ND history – after number four batter Joe Carter and heavy hitting allrounder Brett Hampton piled on a 156-run fifth-wicket stand that was broken just one run short of the ND all-time List A fifth wicket record of 157 held by Daryl Mitchell and Dean Brownlie since 2017/18.
Carter slammed total 106 off 114 balls with 10 fours and three sixes while Hampton hammered an unbeaten total 126* off just 100 balls, with 13 boundaries and five sixes in his unbeaten knock. The Aces will now need 6.38 runs per over in order to maintain their position at the top of the table, or face being bumped down to second by Northern.
Following his debut for the Aces in the Dream11 Super Smash, the T20 title won by the team on Sunday, Auckland Blues rugby rep Jock McKenzie is on List A debut for the team today, and claimed ND captain Jeet Raval as his maiden wicket before eventually adding Carter for 2/55 off his 10 overs.
