(Cricket News) Graeme Swann disclosed his aversion to bowling against 35-year-old Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara due to the latter’s exceptional footwork. Despite playing a pivotal role in England’s historic series win in India in 2012, Swann expressed his unease when facing Pujara, contrasting it with the star-studded Indian lineup featuring VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli.
Reflecting on pre-match strategies, Swann revealed that the team had received instructions not to engage in conversation with Virat Kohli, acknowledging the Indian captain’s penchant for on-field battles and chasing down targets. Recounting an incident involving fast bowler Steven Finn in an ODI match, Swann described how Finn’s confrontation with Kohli backfired, as the Indian skipper responded fiercely, leading to Finn’s struggle in the subsequent deliveries.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Test series, the selection of the squad remains uncertain, with Shubman Gill being given opportunities at number three. Despite this, Pujara showcased his form with a splendid double century in the recent Ranji Trophy match for Saurashtra against Jharkhand.
