(Cricket news) Both Junior and Senior Men’s Country Week games will be played at community grounds across metropolitan Perth, with the U16 Final being held at the iconic WACA Ground. Country Week is the biggest cricket carnival in the State and has been running since 1907 with clubs and associations from all regions eager to take part.
Junior Country Week kicks things off from January 8 – 12, with Senior Men’s Country Week the following week from January 14 – 19. Senior Women’s Country Week will be held in Bunbury from March 2 – 4. WA Cricket Country Coach and Talent Specialist Chris Secker says Country Week is one of the organisation’s biggest undertakings of the year.
“Country Week brings teams from right around the State together for a week of bonding, connection, and cricket,” Secker said. “We have 37 Junior teams and 40 Senior teams competing across the two weeks and we’re looking forward to seeing how the competition unfolds.
“It is so important for us to continually engage with our country clubs and associations, and Country Week allows us to identify regional talent to join our pathway programs and work towards State representation. “We’re also excited for our Senior Women’s Country Week to once again be held in Bunbury across the Labour Day long weekend after a successful competition last year.”
