Mohammad Rizwan Expresses Frustration Over Controversial Dismissal

(Cricket News) The incident occurred in the 61st over of Pakistan’s 317-run chase at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium on Friday. With Australia leading by 98 runs to level the series, Australia captain Pat Cummins bowled a short-pitched delivery that eluded Rizwan’s bat.

While the on-field umpire dismissed Australia’s appeal for a possible caught behind, Cummins chose to seek the assistance of the third umpire, Richard Illingworth. Cummins took his time and watched the incident multiple times through various camera angles.

Rizwan chose to confront the on-field umpire and express his frustration over the abrupt turn of events after the hotspot technology failed to confirm the presence of an edge. The Snickometer, on the other hand, confirmed that the ball had brushed Rizwan’s wristband.

Returning to the field, Cummins claimed five wickets and ten in the second Test to give Australia a thrilling 79-run victory and seal the series. Chasing 317 to win, the visitors mounted a valiant fight as they attempted to win their first Test in Australia since 1995. However, they were dismissed for 237, with the final five wickets falling for eighteen runs.

The Australian captain Cummins was the main destroyer, taking 5-49 to go with his first innings 5-48 — only the second 10-wicket haul of his Test career. It was always going to be a difficult task, with the highest-ever successful fourth innings run chase at the Melbourne Cricket Ground being the 332-7 England managed in 1928, with no other team getting past 300. However, they were dismissed for 237, with the last five wickets falling for 18 runs.
