(Football news) While the hosts defeated Burnley in midweek, they come into this game looking to win their first consecutive top-flight games of the season.

Thanks to another goal from in-form attacker Hwang Hee-chan, Wolves overcame Burnley on Tuesday night to earn a much-needed 1-0 victory. This triumph came after three straight losses, all by a narrow margin.

At the final seconds of the half, the South Korean striker scored his eighth league goal of the year to help Gary O’Neil’s team secure a “massive win” at Molineux. Only Erling Haaland (14 goals), Mohamed Salah (10) and international colleague Son Heung-min (9) have scored more Premier League goals than Wolves’ No. 11 this season.

As they currently sit 11 points clear of the relegation zone in 13th place in the table, Wolves will not be looking over their shoulder anytime soon. A win on Saturday could propel them into the top half and draw level with West Ham United, who are currently in ninth place and will be their opponents at the London Stadium next week.

Wolves’ victory over Burnley not only saw them maintain their first clean sheet since August, but they also made it five games without a loss at Molineux. Wolves’ last unbeaten home run of six games in the top flight came from January to August of 2019, when they went ten games in a row without going down.

With only one loss in their previous 11 meetings with Nottingham Forest in all competitions—a 2-0 home loss in January 2018 when both teams were in the Championship—Wolves have good reason to be hopeful about securing another victory on Saturday. 

Nottingham Forest has lost each of their previous four Premier League games and given up 12 goals in the process, five of which came during a terrible defensive performance at Fulham on Wednesday night. The team last defeated high-flying Aston Villa 2-0 at home on November 5.

Before Tom Cairney added his name to the scoresheet, Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez both scored braces for the Cottagers, adding insult to injury and condemning Steve Cooper’s team to their worst loss of 2023.

After a poor run of just one victory in the last 11 games, Cooper is reportedly clinging onto his Forest job by a thread. The heat is now on his shoulders. The Tricky Trees have slid to 16th place in the standings, just six points ahead of Everton in 18th, and have sleepwalked into a relegation struggle.
