(Cricket News) India’s tour of South Africa, which starts with a T20 International in Durban on December 10, will feature three T20 internationals, three ODIs, and two Test matches. Virat Kohli, who scored the most runs in the recently concluded World Cup, will not be available for selection for the white-ball games during the tour. Kohli has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of his decision to take a break.

In the coming days, the Indian team for all three formats will be chosen by the national selection committee, which is led by former all-rounder Ajit Agarkar. Kohli had an incredible World Cup at home, amassing 765 runs in 11 innings, including three hundreds, and achieving player of the tournament.

“At present, Kohli has notified the BCCI that he will be playing red-ball cricket, which implies he is available for selection for the two Test matches in South Africa. He (Kohli) has informed the selectors and BCCI that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and he will get back to them about when he wants to play white-ball cricket next,” the source said.

While on vacation in London, Kohli has been playing cricket nonstop for the past few months; his only vacation was in September, just before the World Cup, when he and skipper Rohit Sharma rested for the first two ODIs against Australia at home.
