(Football news) This summer, the England defender has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Kyle was said to have verbally agreed to join the Bundesliga winners on a two-year agreement last month.

However, the 33-year-old Kyle Walker  has decided to stay at City after “fresh talks” with manager Pep Guardiola. Walker and his manager went out to supper on Friday night.

The pair dined at Manchester’s upscale Japanese restaurant MUSU. Guardiola and Walker spent about two and a half hours out together before hugging and saying their goodbyes. Earlier on Friday, Guardiola stated that Walker has been important to his all-conquering Manchester City team.

Of the full-back and team-mate Bernardo Silva, he said: “They are so important to us.

“We want them and will do everything.

“Replacing these two would be so difficult.”

Kyle is on the verge of signing a new contract offer from Manchester City, which was tabled within the last 24 hours.

Earlier this summer, the former Tottenham Hotspur star rejected a new contract at the Etihad. Walker led City to a Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

He has made 255 appearances for City since arriving from Tottenham in 2017. During this time, he has won five Premier League crowns, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and the Champions League last season.
