Sebastian Vettel: De Vries’ F1 dismissal was “brutal” and “harsh”

The abrupt departure of Nyck de Vries from AlphaTauri has been referred to as "brutal" and "harsh" by former Red Bull Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel, who has also shown his support for the Dutchman

(Motorsports news) Before going to Red Bull and winning four world titles before switching to Ferrari, Vettel raced for the Faenza-based team while it was still known as Toro Rosso. He continues to get along well with Christian Horner, the team’s manager, and the Milton Keynes-based team.

In an interview with ITV that aired on Saturday at Goodwood, Vettel emphasized that while he is pleased to see his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo making a comeback, the situation for De Vries was terrible.

When asked what he felt about the AlphaTauri revelation, Sebastian Vettel replied, “Twofold, if I’m being honest. “I’m extremely thrilled for Daniel. I’ve known him since we raced, and we first spoke during the test when I was negotiating the [1993] McLaren for this weekend. And I’m really thrilled for him.

On the other side, you must also be sincere. Obviously, the way it ends is unfortunate for Nyck. I believe he was given a fantastic opportunity. “Perhaps things didn’t turn out for him the way he or others anticipated. But when it comes to a very abrupt end like that, it’s also a little harsh. It’s harsh.

De Vries’s exit from AlphaTauri, according to Vettel, is not expected to have a long-term effect on his professional life. “I met him last year for the first time and he seemed like a really good person, and he is a good driver,” Vettel remarked.

He won international championships in addition to the F2 title. He is therefore highly known, and I sincerely hope that his career will not suffer as a result. People frequently do it, and it’s wrong. “Perhaps those ten races didn’t go as well as they could have. From the outside, we don’t know why, and secondly, he is still a very talented driver.

Therefore, I must also understand how difficult it must be for him, and I sincerely hope that no one will notice the dent.

Mark Webber, a former teammate of Sebastian Vettel, claimed that he had counseled Daniel Ricciardo not to leave the Red Bull team at the conclusion of 2018, and he warned that his fellow Australian would need to swiftly catch up with new AlphaTauri teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

ITV quoted Webber as saying, “I was eager for him to stay in Red Bull, and I think he knows that all those years ago I was trying to talk him into staying.” However, it is clear that he was eager to join Renault at the time. He later joined McLaren, had a year off, and is now back.

“You’re either applying pressure or receiving it; the stopwatch never lies. As a result, he has returned to the grid and must unavoidably face Yuki Tsunado quite soon. Hopefully, he can succeed.
