(Football News) On Wednesday, Christian, the forward from the United States, arrived in Italy to undergo a medical examination with AC Milan as part of an anticipated transfer from Chelsea.
With one year remaining on his Chelsea contract, the 24-year-old is likely to ink a four-year agreement with the Rossoneri, thus becoming the third American to represent the club following the footsteps of Oguchi Onyewu and Sergiño Dest.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Chrisitian spoke to reporters who awaited him at Milan’s Malpensa airport, stating, “I’m extremely delighted to be here. I’m filled with excitement to embark on this journey with such a historic club.”
“I am incredibly thrilled to be here and have the opportunity to compete for titles,” expressed Pulisic. Milan, which is under the ownership of American investment firm RedBird, is reportedly preparing to secure Pulisic’s services for a transfer fee of 20 million euros (USD 22 million). This amount stands at less than half of what Chelsea originally paid Borussia Dortmund for Pulisic’s acquisition in 2019.
Pulisic’s time in England was hampered by injuries, preventing him from fully meeting expectations. Nonetheless, he did achieve success with Chelsea by clinching the Champions League, European Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
If the transfer materializes, Pulisic would be the second player from Chelsea to join AC Milan in this transfer window, following Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s move to the Rossoneri. Additionally, Pulisic could potentially reunite with former Chelsea teammates Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori at Milan.
Having made 60 appearances for the United States, Pulisic has showcased his prowess by netting 25 goals. Hailing from Pennsylvania, he played a vital role in guiding the national team to the round of 16 in the previous year’s World Cup held in Qatar.
