After the departure of Karim Benzema, Nacho will be the club captain which may be the biggest reason why he has decided to stay. The Spaniard was considering going elsewhere to get more game time as he is not a guaranteed starter for Real Madrid. However, the prestige of being the captain of Real Madrid is something that may have persuaded him to stay for at least another season.
Nacho is 33 years of age but he has still only signed a one-year extension which means that this could be his last season with Los Blancos. Nacho is any manager’s dream because of his attitude and versatility. The Spaniard can play anywhere across the back four and look comfortable. In Real Madrid’s astounding 4-2 against Liverpool at Anfield, Real Madrid were 2-0 down when Nacho replaced David Alaba at left-back.
