(Football news) Dortmund continued to add pressure on Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga standings as they scored four goals in a 32-minute first-half spell to thrash Borussia Monchengladbach 5-2 on Saturday. BVB still stayed in the title hunt with two matches left in the Bundesliga season. Dortmund are subsequently on 67 points which is one point less than leaders Bayern Munich who played earlier and won 6-0 over Schalke 04 on Saturday.
Dortmund have a much easier trip to Augsburg next weekend while Bayern face a tough away test to high flying RB Leipzig. The Black and Yellow immediately shot out of the blocks and went ahead when in form Donyell Malen scored from close range after Sebastien Haller’s shot from outside the box which got deflected. Jude Bellingham also continued his rich vein of form as he slotted in a penalty in the 18th minute before Haller finally got his goal which he deserved with a backheel flick and made it 3-0 just two minutes later.
With Gladbach on the back foot, Haller went on to add another goal with a perfectly timed volley from Malen who turned provider this time in the 32nd minute. Dortmund eased off the pressure which allowed Gladbach to pull back a goal with a Ramy Bensebaini penalty in the 75th minute as Gladbach pulled one more goal with a Lars Stindl’s low drive five minutes before the end. But Gio Reyna put the final nail in the coffin when he scored with the last kick of the game to make it 5-2.
