Real Madrid's season is now dependent on the match at the Etihad and a potential final but there are fitness concerns

(Football news) Real Madrid on Tuesday drew against Manchester City in the 1st leg of the semi final at the Santiago Bernabeu. The match was pretty even and in the end the draw was probably the fair result. Now Real Madrid will have to beat Manchester City at the Etihad which isn’t an easy task. Los Blancos have already lost the league title to Barcelona so they can rest all the key players for their game against Getafe. Real Madrid have been struggling with quite a few injuries this season. David Alaba and Ferland Mendy are two players who have missed the majority of the season due to injury.

Luka Modric suffered an injury in a league game against Girona. There were reports claiming that he will be out for at least 2 weeks. However Modric didn’t accept that outcome and visited a specialist in Belgrade, Serbia. The treatment worked and Modric recovered much quicker than expected.

Modric managed to get on the bench for the Copa Del Rey final against Osasuna where he played the last 8 minutes. In the match against Manchester City, Modric was back in the starting XI and played 87 minutes. There were reports which said that if he played the match there would be a high risk of a more serious injury. Modric, despite knowing that, decided to play.

There are also reports which say that Fede Valverde isn’t fully fit and has been playing through pain. There have been times when Valverde has played through injury and he always looks just as committed. Carlo Ancelotti is definitely running a risk by playing both of them regularly. Now the Italian has a chance to rest both of them along with a few others. Real Madrid’s season has been mediocre despite a Copa Del Rey win because they are 3rd and so far behind leaders Barcelona in the League. A win in the Champions League will make their season a successful one.
