(Sports news) Despite trailing 10 at half-time and Patrick Mahomes limping off after aggravating the ankle injury, the Kansas City Chiefs made a dramatic comeback to win against Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 with Mahomes being awarded Super Bowl MVP after leading four-consecutive scoring drives. The 27 year old quarter-back threw three touchdowns and completed 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards.

The Philadelphia Eagles dominated possession and quarterback Jalen Hurts had a sublime performance, throwing over 300 yards and running in three touchdowns. However, the tide turned when Patrick Mahomes swung the second half in Kansas City Chiefs’ favor with a match winning display. The Chiefs took the lead for the first time with 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter when Mahomes found wide-open Kadarius Toney. Toney then made history with a record 65-yard punt to set the Chiefs up at the Philadelphia five-yard line while Mahomes went on to find Skyy Moore for the touchdown.

However, the Eagles made a dramatic comeback when quarterback Jalen Hurts found DeVonta Smith on the left sideline for 45 yards to set up his third rushing score of the game. Hurts then hurled himself over the goalline for the game-tying two-point conversion too, with five minutes and 15 seconds left. What made Mahomes’ performance incredibly remarkable was the fact that he was playing with an injured ankle and played an integral part in the Chiefs’ win.

Speaking after the match, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said “I told you all this week there’s nothing that’s going to keep me off that football field. I just want to shout out to my team-mates, we challenge each other, it took everybody to win this football game. I won’t say dynasty yet – we’re not done!”

Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said “The combination of Andy Reid calling the plays and Patrick Mahomes making them is the very best in the league. How many moments did we find ourselves in that second half watching him play and just shaking our head at the things he was able to do on the field, with the bad ankle? When they needed to play he just continued to make them. I think these young guns are all going to be chasing Patrick for years to come. He is cementing his legacy as potentially one of if not the greatest of all time… he’s on his way.”
