Bournemouth agree £20m deal for Dango Ouattara from Lorient

Dango Ouattara reportedly set for medical at AFC Bournemouth today
Dango Ouattara is set to join Bournemouth

(Football news) Bournemouth have agreed a fee to sign Lorient winger Dango Ouattara for £20 million. The 20-year-old has been in talks with a number of other Premier League clubs over the last two weeks but it now appears Ouattara will become the first signing since Bill Foley took over the club. The Burkina Faso international will fly to the UK today to complete his medical and finalise the move as he is a subject to a work permit application.

Ouattara this season has six goals and six assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances in what is his breakout season in professional football. Bournemouth’s new owners Foley has purchased a 33 per cent stake in Lorient with a view to owning the French club outright in a few years time. Last month, Foley stated publicly that he would not be “surprised” to make “four or five” new signings in the January window. Bournemouth’s squad was at full capacity, meaning outgoings were necessary before any incoming transfers could be registered in their 25-man squad list. Therefore the likes of Jamal Lowe and Emiliano Marcondes have since departed Bournemouth on loan, for QPR and FC Nordsjaelland.

Both Everton and Leicester City were heavily interested in signing the striker, with the Toffees also submitting a €20m offer for the Burkinabé youngster. However, the acquisition of a minority stake in Lorient by Bournemouth’s American owner Bill Foley progressed the deal in the Cherries’ favour. Bournemouth are looking to again raid FC Lorient as they target playmaker Enzo Le Fée but, as Get French news reports, the 22-year-old is uninterested in the move as of now but things can change quickly in the transfer market.
