Arsenal are 5 points clear on top of the Premier League table

(Football news) The Premier League title race is shaping up quite nicely. Arsenal are currently 5 points clear but Manchester City cannot be counted out. Newcastle United are also in the running as they are just 2 points behind City. Both the teams are still in the European competitions and the FA along with the Premier League. Manchester City are still in the EFL Cup while Arsenal aren’t so that is a tiny advantage for the Gunners. Manchester City squad has a lot of depth while Arsenal definitely need a couple of new singings in January. The North London club is in negotiations for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk who will be a valuable addition.

Manchester City’s last fixture of the year is against Everton at the Etihad stadium. Julian Alvarez has just joined the squad after winning the World Cup and he is unlikely to take part in the match. Ruben Diaz is still unavailable due to his injury while Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker could both return to the lineup after being rested against Leeds. Erling Haaland has started exactly where he left off and he will be chasing more goals. Everton are in a proper battle and a win against Manchester City would be a massive boost. They will be missing Andros Townsend, Yerry Mina and James Garner while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also a doubt.

Arsenal will be keen to end the year on a high as they travel to Brighton. Reiss Nelson and Gabriel Jesus are out of contention while Takehero Tomiyasu is also a doubt. Emile Smith Rowe could make his long awaited comeback. Brighton on the other hand will be without World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister and the suspended Moises Caicedo. Adam Webster, former Arsenal player Danny Welbeck and Jakub Moder will also be unavailable. Arsenal have a realistic chance to win the Premier League for the first time since 2016 and a win here would strengthen their position.
