(Football news) Chelsea full-back Reece James is out for a month after suffering a relapse of a knee injury that sidelined him for the World Cup in Qatar. It was James’ first game since his recovery from the same injury and was replaced in the 53rd minute for Cesar Azpiliceuta. After the match, Chelsea manager Graham Potter said that James will be assessed by the medical staff in what is undoubtedly a tough situation for the 23 year old.
James injured his knee against AC Milan in the Champions League on October 11th and reports have suggested that any further setback in the same area could result in a surgery. The defender has made 12 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists. The 23 year old is regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world and he will definitely be a big miss for Chelsea for the month ahead.
“He’s been really disappointed to miss the World Cup, of course. It was a huge blow to him. You could see his quality and what he brings to the team. He is a world-class player. You see it from the outside but not until you work with him do you see how good he is. He could play in any team in the world, and any team would miss him.”
